UK part I : Stonehenge & Roman Baths

April 6th, 2012.

Stonehenge and Roman Baths.

Accompanied by a talkative yet cheerful female tourist guide, she explained to us history bout everything we saw, started from the bus station till we reached Stonehenge. And FYI, there's a private hospital near the London Victoria Coach Station that has bullet proof window. Wohooo..

Oh yeah. We arrived at Stonehenge around 10++ am. Some info as regard Stonehenge:
  • Stonehenge is a prehistoric monument located in the English county of Wiltshire, about 2.0 miles (3.2 km) west of Amesbury and 8 miles (13 km) north of Salisbury.
  • One of the most famous sites in the world, Stonehenge is composed of a circular setting of large standing stones set within earthworks. It is at the centre of the most dense complex of Neolithic and Bronze Age monuments in England, including several hundred burial mounds.
  • There a lot of stories about Stonehenge. And one of them is : Stonehenge was a place of burial from its beginning to its zenith in the mid third millennium B.C. The cremation burial dating to Stonehenge's sarsen stones phase is likely just one of many from this later period of the monument's use and demonstrates that it was still very much a domain of the dead.

Aihh... I can't copy all the Stonehenge histories here. If you want to know more bout it, feel free to read it here, Stonehenge wikipedia =p

Now, lets enjoy the pictures

Stonehenge, an English Heritage

It just few standing stones only. And oh yes, a group of lambs around it =p

Tee hee

A lot of tourist come here every day in every year just to visit this stone, including us -_-

Yippeee

Another side of stone with stone's visitors

s.t.o.n.e

:D

The Heelstone

  • The Heel Stone lies just outside the main entrance to the henge, next to the present A344 road. It is a rough stone, 16 feet (4.9 m) above ground, leaning inwards towards the stone circle. It has been known by many names in the past, including "Friar's Heel" and "Sun-stone". Today it is uniformly referred to as the Heel Stone or Heelstone. When one stands within Stonehenge, facing north-east through the entrance towards the heel stone, one sees the sun rise above the stone at summer solstice.

Around 11.15am, we headed to Baths. Roman Baths.
  • The first shrine at the site of the hot springs was built by Celts, and was dedicated to the goddess Sulis, whom the Romans identified with Minerva. Geoffrey of Monmouth in his largely fictional Historia Regum Britanniae describes how in 836 BC the spring was discovered by the British king Bladud who built the first baths. Early in the 18th century Geoffrey's obscure legend was given great prominence as a royal endorsement of the waters' qualities, with the embellishment that the spring had cured Bladud and his herd of pigs of leprosy through wallowing in the warm mud.[11]

On our way down to Bath. Pig Farm. Very large pig farm

"You guys should be here at quarter pas 4 if American they would say 4 fifteen."

Such a long queue

It's not the 'Oman' Baths people. It's actually the Roman Baths. Missing the R word -_-

We didn't even know that it was a pay entry to Roman Baths. We only realized it when we saw a list of price on the receptionist table -_-"

Inside the Roman Baths.

Amsterdam part III : It's day and night

Assalamualaikum and hellowwwwwwwwwwwww everybody.. Hap bypy fasting.!!! Am so sorry for the very late update bout my Euro trip. I've been busy with my final 6th year exam preparation and stuffs related to it. And alhamdulillah, today Famy and I just finished our 6 year study here in Medical Faculty, Alexandria University. Alhamdulillah alhamdulillah 'ala kulli hal. But we are unofficially graduated because we don't get our results yet. So, keep praying everyone for our best results. Huuuu..

Okay. Enough bout me. Back to the main topic. In the 4th April 2012, Atiyyah and me took a tour by ourselves around Amsterdam. We bought a day tram ticket so we just hop on hop off the tram to move from one place to another. Save time.! :D

The first place that we went was Amsterdam Flower Market. Hewhewheww.. Ah well, girls like flowers aye?

Of course the main flower here is TULIPS. Yes. The very beautiful tulips. They sell many things bout it, from the seeds till the flowers, either living, or plastic.

They.sell.this.one.too,

HAHAHAHA.. Where the heck in this world that you can find things like these are legal to sell??? HAHAHAHA

Then for my personal collections of t-shirt, I bought one from here :D

Hard Rock Cafe. Heee <3

Magic Mushroom. Once you eat it, then you can be a magician. Hahaha.. I wanted to buy one packet of mushroom but got no enough money. Sighh..

After that, we started our "I am Amsterdam" sign hunting mission. Hehehe.. The sign located at two places, at a new building area and in front of Van Gogh museum, the later we accidentally found it as we decided to take some photos there (as you know Van Gogh museum is one of the tourist's attractions in Amsterdam)

Jeng jeng jenggg..

Ams. Yeah.

Views while we were wandering around before we reached Van Gogh. Hahaha

So expensive

I love this map thing. The machine even printed the map out. Hohohoho

I am Amsterdam in front of Van Gogh Museum.
Me with the duck. Lol

Atiyyah and me.

Love this picture. We looked so adorable *vomit*

Entrance Rijk Museum. We didn't go inside because it was so so expensive. Hell no laa. Hahaha

Inside Van Gogh museum shop.

The tired face yet happy

And the night came....

The very famous place of Amsterdam. Red light district
  • De Wallen, also known as Walletjes or Rosse Buurt, is a designated area for legalised prostitution and is Amsterdam's largest and most well known red-light district.
  • This neighborhood has become a famous tourist attraction.
  • It consists of a network of roads and alleys containing several hundred small, one-room apartments rented by sex workers who offer their services from behind a window or glass door, typically illuminated with red lights.

RLD

Famy had remind us not to take picture of the prostitute inside the glass wall. For afraid our camera will be throw away in the canal.

But the view is nice. Isn't it?

 FOOD SECTION ;

Nom nom nom

We had our dinner at an Arabic's restaurant (because it's halal, of course.!)

Sorry for the bad lightning *blame the restaurant* The FIVE euros kebab. Five euros=40geneh which I can buy about 4 shawerma kabir at Gad restaurant here in Egypt. Hahaha

That food ends my entry for now. Hehehe.. Haihhh.. Start type before berbuka lagi, sampai pukul 1 pagi baru siap update entry ni. Hahaha
